Cybercrime prosecution is estimated to be as low as 5%

According to the World Economic Forum’s 2020 Global Risk Report, "Organized cybercrime entities are joining forces, and their likelihood of detection and prosecution is estimated to be as low as 0.05 percent in the U.S." (https://cybersecurityventures.com/hac...)

Given these alarming statistics, cybercriminals have very little to lose. HOWEVER, many enterprises have A LOT to lose. "The global cost of data breaches in 2021 is expected to reach $6 trillion annually," (UpGuard). Ransomware attacks not only cost money but affect the operational efficiency, the reputation of an organisation, and the way the customer views their organisation.
