“When addressing encryption in criminal investigations, the right balance needs to be struck between individual’s rights, i.e. the right to privacy, and a State’s responsibility to protect its citizens and thus to ensure that law enforcement agencies and judicial authorities can investigate and prosecute effectively” (16).
